I know I said I was going to do better blogging.. FAIL!!
We've been living in the new house for like 2 months now and I haven't done anymore posts about the house. But we were so ready that we moved into it while it was still a work in progress. So more to come on that topic.
BUT I'm blogging today to share some exciting news. Jay passed the SC Bar!! He's been freaking out for weeks (but I never had a doubt). Most of our friends have known for a while because for whatever reason SC (and GA) are the slowest to get grades back. So big congrats to all of our friends who passed their state bars!!!

When we bought our house the kitchen was VERY small and VERY out of date.
It also wasn't really the best use of space..
there was a door and a window in the small space
We had very few cabinets but we have ALOT of dishes, appliances & other goodies.
Here is the tour of the small kitchen before the renovations.
the awkward door and the odd bar/cabinets, BOTH were removed
the sink that is too big for counter space allotted
and the old school cabinets
this corner of wall was removed to help open up the space
We also had a formal dinning room which we didn't really "need".
Our contractor, Ryan Bowers (Bowers Building and Remodeling), tore down the walls
between the dinning room and kitchen & the kitchen and den to create a larger eat-in kitchen & create an open floor plan.
The New Cabinets
(custom built by Ryan)
the wall we planned on taking out turned out to be load bearing
so Ryan added two support beams to help keep the space open
and it turned out GREAT!!!!
with the smaller house we didn't have a butler closet or pantry
so I asked Ryan to build us some pantry style cabinets
which he did and we love.

My sweet friend, Kat, suggested I start blogging again and
show the progress we make on our fixer-upper.
So here are some pictures of our new home the way it looked when we purchased it..
It's a small starter home that needed some major updating but we think its going to be really cute when we get everything done and it's a great space for us for now.
In the future I'll post pictures of the progess and then some before and afters.. so STAY TUNED :)
This is the house from the street
we are painting it white and ripping up those box shrubs
we're taking out that wall and creating an eat in kitchen
extremely outdated so we are gutting it and starting from scratch
Hall Bath (currently only bath EEK!!)
replacing the shower with a clawfoot tub
This is a LONG small awkard Bedroom
we are turning it into a Master Bath

Yesterday was mine and the husband's second anniversary but we celebrated over the weekend. My super sweet husband booked us a room at the Sheraton.. The place we stayed the night of our wedding. LOVE HIM!! We decided not to exchange gifts this year because we just bought a house and now we are renovating it so our brand new appliances are our gifts to each other. However, I ended up getting a gift anyway.. I forgot my hang up bag in Virginia with my dress for dinner.. So I got the new Lilly dress I've been eyeing.

It's been a LONG time.. But honestly life was pretty uneventful for while and then it was so chaotic.. And then I just kinda forgot about it.
(oops.. one of the hazards of being a blond)
But we have had a pretty exciting summer..
Some of our best friends got married this year. Sadly my memory card got wet so I lost all of my pictures from the first 2 weddings but here is one with two of my beautiful newly wed friends.
Jay finished with law scool.. #1 in his class. So proud of him!!!
Also, the hubby and I finally closed on our first house. Which was the longest, most painful process EVER. But it's done and the renovation has officially begun!!

We went to the Mountain House with a bunch of friends the other weekend but last week was really crazy so I never got around to sharing. We had a lot of fun despite Carolina losing (and some very sad news.. RIP sweet Jake). We went all out this year and had koozies printed (by SC embroidery and they did a great job as usual), maybe for the 10th Annual Mountain weekend we'll make T-shirts.
