So far on my wish list are these cute little items I found at a boutique in Knoxville and a few others i found while shopping online. Lucky for me my birthday is in spring so I always get a few new goodies (paid for by the parentals) and these are definitely making my wish list..

Love these colors

Another favorite for early spring
Love this Trina Turk top
French Connection tiered skirt

This is my Birthday/Easter Dress - I'm OBSESSED with it!!
This one is my mommy's favorite

jewelry

So a few weeks ago I was looking for some fun green jewelry to wear for St. Pats.. no luck but I did stumbled upon these cute little sea turtles on Splash of Pink's website. I couldn't order them then because obviously buying a valentine's day gift for the hubby was more important. Well my fun new earrings came in yesterday and completely made my long day worth it. I'm so glad I decided to order my Fornash Sea Turtles last week because they are perfect. (Green is one of my all time favorite colors so I'm in love with these little guys)

If you don't know.. I'm kind of obsessed with little sea creatures. Starfish and Sea Turtles are my absolute fave but I pretty much love it all. So next time I'm having a bad day, any of these would make an easy pick me up.. and a fun additions to my summer jewelry collection.

I already have these starfish from J. Crew.. and they make me happy every time I wear them. I even splurged and bought the necklace to match. I hope my turtles have the same effect.. but I already know they will!!!

my books are in..

I've been working on a summer reading list.. but I went ahead and ordered two new books which came in just in time for my 3 day weekend. I'll probably have finished "What Would Audrey Do?" by dinner tomorrow so it's a good thing I ordered two.

Happy President's Day weekend, everyone!!

YUMMMY

Last night I tried out a new recipe that J and I both loved. It was rice, artichokes, tuna, and EVOO... I added cappers because we love cappers with artichokes but the recipe didn't call for that, so if you don't like cappers don't worry. And bonus it's supposed to be healthy (not something I typically care about but since VA has put a few extra lbs. on me.. and swim suit season is around the corner.. it couldn't hurt to eat healthier)

Valentine's Day

Since we live in a tiny little town with no nice restaurants J and I opted to stay home and cook and open gifts. When I got home from work J had set the table with roses (which I'm not typically a fan of.. but these were especially pretty for roses) then we had a glass of champagne and opened gifts. We cooked together and all in all it was a great Valentine's Day!!

BOOKS. BOOKS. BOOKS.

I've been trying to figure out a new book I want to read. I've always loved Alice in Wonderland and I'm a sucker for good cover art. Plus this would be a cute little addition to a little girls nursery (in about a million years). So thanks to the Lilly Blog.. I'll be purchasing this today.

My friend Jennifer also suggested the Chelsea Handler books. So I'm adding them to my summer reading list.

Also on my to do list.. RE-learn french. I took it in high school but took Spanish in college and lost my French. So my next big purchase is going to be Rosetta Stone.

Holy Fashion Faux Pas

It took all of my strength not to snap a cell phone picture of this girl yesterday. This girl's out fit was a train wreck.. like something you'd expect to see in Walmart but we were in Target, which made it even more mind blowing. Somehow this girl managed to wrap all of my fashion pet peeves into one outfit. Well almost, if she had a little animal print in there it would have been a perfect disaster.
Leggings are NOT pants..
but I'm pretty sure this girl had tights on as pants.

Over the Knee Boots.
I know some people love this trend..
but all I see is Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.. AKA hooker!!
And I'm not sure if the kid was hers or the lady behind her.. but the little baby had her ears pierced. Why do parents do this?? I mean if you are worried people won't know it's a girl slap a bow on her head and throw her in some pink.

While we are on the subject of trends I hate
lets discuss the Jean on Jean phenomenon.. STOP IT!!
Or the ROMPER.
OMG I loath the romper.
I have only seen one girl outside of Hollywood that could pull that off,
and she can make pretty much anything she puts on cute, my friend B-Ray!!

Super Bowl XLV

I'm not a huge fan of the NFL. I do love Peyton and Eli Manning and of course Brett Favre but I absolutely loath Tom Brady (and his butt chin). So since none of my faves were playing this year, all I really cared about were the commercials.

This one was my favorite, partially because up until about a month ago I didn't even know who Justin Bieber was and also because my husband walked in while I was watching Pretty Little Liars last week (which he already thought was a stupid show, but I love it).. and of course he comes in when Hannah is saying something completely stupid. Now he keeps sarcastically quoting the stupid line "don't talk about the Biebs. You don't know the Biebs!!"

These are a few of my other favorites. Star Wars - Volkswagon, Pepsi Max - First Date, and of course the E*Trade Baby.

SIDE NOTE: geesh-la-wees Fergie is terrible!! She can't sing, she looks like a tranny, those fake finger nails and her out fit were hideous, and she looked preggo. I already hated her music and thought she looked like a man but now I think the world will agree with me when I say.. Fergalicious put down the microphone and WALK AWAY!!

Such the Domestic

Recently I've been in the mood for baking. I've always loved cooking (something I get from my dad, well step-dad). In our small town there is basically only fast food, which I hate, so we eat at home basically all the time. By the time I've made super for J and I there really isn't much time for treats. Well this week I've made time to try out a few new recipes.. a new icing for me and homemade treats for Miller!!

CUPCAKES

One of my favorite wedding gifts was the Mechanical Pastry Bag
from Williams Sonoma
Homemade (delish) icing and Chocolate Cupcakes

MILLER TREATS
Miller wanted to give treats to all his friends for V-day..
I couldn't find the heart cookie cutter so for now we have strawberries.

ALL about Music

GREAT NEWS!!
Yesterday I got up with great intentions of ordering 7 tickets to the Avett Brothers in Charlotte, NC.. FAIL!! I thought pre-sale started at 12:00 wrong-o, so when I got there at 12:00 they were all gone. This morning I got online at 8:00 only to find out second pre-sale started at 10:00.. when 10:01 rolled around I had our tickets.. SUCCESS!!

A little over a year ago I found out about the Avett Brother's and I liked them but my husband LOVES them. I've always loved finding new bands. My senior year I became obsessed with Indie music.. I lean a little more toward the emo. My senior year of high school I was obsessed with OK Go, Hello GoodBye and All-American Rejects.. (I still love Tyson, lead singer). Then in college I really liked Panic at the Disco, Jack's Mannequin,  The Format, Dashboard Confessionals (or as my friend Jess calls it - my slit your wrist music)

Over the past few years I've gotten more into the happy indie. A few summers ago bands like Vampire Weekend, Empire of the Sun, Airborne Toxic Event (this one isn't as happy.. but it was on repeat a few summers ago so it makes the list), Phoenix, and Hockey took over my play list, just to name a few. All of which I still love.

What I'm listening to now consists of: Local Natives, Florence and the Machine, Stars, Two Door Cinema Club, Tokyo Police Club, Angus and Julia, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Robert Francis, BUT my absolute favorite, I fell in love with last summer (but just broke down and ordered the CD on iTunes a few months ago.. the entire album is amazing), Freelance Whales.
